Law Enforcement Only Pistol/Rifle Course

OVERVIEW

This firearms training course focuses on tactical speed shooting, development of aggressive gun- handling skills and dynamic action while deploying the pistol. Also included, covering the concepts of owning/dominating the weapon, the threat, and all visual areas while continuously moving will be emphasized throughout the class. Students will develop reflexive gun-handling skills that will enable them to quickly and efficiently engage threats while performing multiple complex tasks.

Topics covered:

This course will begin with a discussion about mental conditioning and combat mindset. We will discuss briefly the fundamentals of shooting and discuss the natural combat stance. After this, the shooting begins. We will practice presentation from the holster as well as the ready and SUL positions. We will discuss and practice the difference of speed vs accuracy. Decision making drills will be included. We will practice multiple shot drills on a single threat target as well as multiple threat shooting drills. We will engage threats while moving in all directions as well as while negotiating obstacles. Shooting positions will be discussed and practiced. We will practice reloading drills along with discussing ammunition management. Students will also practice stoppage drills. Weapon retention will be discussed and tested. Drugged assailant defeating drills will be taught. In addition, one handed manipulation strong and support side will be tested. Distance shooting will be tested and use of cover and concealment will be taught. Hostage or small target engagement will be addressed. Depending on range conditions, shooting at a moving target will be practiced.

Equipment Requirements:

  • A positive attitude and an open mind!
  •  Duty Pistol, duty belt and patrol rifle.
  • At least 3 magazines for pistol and rifle.
  • Eye and Ear protection and proper range attire for any weather.
  • 200 rounds of new manufactured pistol ammunition and 250 rounds of new manufactured rifle ammunition. (No reloads)
  • Handheld tactical flashlight
  • Also recommended Elbow and Knee Pads (Drills will Be Conducted on Gravel)
  • A sack lunch and plenty of fluids to drink
  • Camping/portable chair

Tuition:

$175.00 per student (Students can request an invoice for departments to pay)

The cost covers the class and range fees and the students will receive 8 ILEA training hours.
