Overview:

Be honest, how many of you own, carry or rely on a revolver for home or personal protection but never practice with it like you do your pistol?  Just like the title says this course is designed specifically for those who are looking to improve their revolver skills and to assist with taking it to the next level when using a revolver for concealed carry or home defense purposes. During this course the students will receive lecture covering various topics pertaining to revolver skills. This course gives students advanced skills and mindset to carry and use a handgun for self-defense purposes. Students will learn to use their revolver safely, quickly, and instinctively. Students will also have the opportunity to preform dry firing drills under the guidance of a certified instructor, giving them the chance to practice the skills learned prior to attempting them under live fire conditions. The live fire drills used during this course are designed to reinforce all topics covered during the training. Again, this course was designed to take you to the next level and help you understand the importance of the skill set needed to properly handle and use a firearm for defensive purposes. If you use a handgun for protection purposes this training is for you.

Topics Covered:

Students will begin this course with a brief review of the basic firearm safety rules and fundamentals of shooting a handgun. From there we will build on the basic skills needed to properly deploy and handle a firearm. This will include the proper technique for drawing from a holster. We will cover loading a firearm from administrative through combat loading. Students will be trained in malfunction drills as well as how to recognize and fix each type of malfunction. From there we will train on different shooting positions, the course will also have instruction for offhand shooting and shooting on the move.  This course will also touch briefly on situational awareness and a defensive mindset.

Student Requirements:

• At least one serviceable revolver

• At least 3 speed loaders or speed strips.

• Eye and Ear protection and proper range attire for any weather

• 200 rounds of new, manufactured ammunition

• A good quality strong side holster designed for the handgun being used or a properly designed pocket holster.  (No cross draw or shoulder holsters allowed.  Nylon holsters are also not recommended)

• Also recommended Elbow and Knee Pads (Drills will Be Conducted On Gravel)

• A sack lunch and plenty of fluids to drink

• Camping/portable chair

Tuition: $175.  This includes your range fee.  Successful completion of this class by demonstrating safe gun handling skills will earn you a $25 voucher for future classes with Defensive Shooting Concepts.
